Pre-pageant preparations: Miss USA, Alyssa Campanella, gets prepared for fittings upon arriving in Sao Paulo, Brazil, for Miss Universe next month
As 89 of the world’s most beautiful women arrive in Brazil for this year’s Miss Universe pageant, Miss USA has confirmed that she is fit for the competition.
Alyssa Campanella, of New Jersey, released a statement saying: ‘For the record I am 100 per cent healthy.’
Despite fans being unclear why she issued the statement, the 21-year-old has been victim of rumours alleging that she’s had breast enhancement surgery, is pregnant and is married.
Her statement continued: ‘I see doctors and I have a nutritionist that I work very close with.
‘My super fast metabolism is genetic and it is something I have struggled with my whole life.
‘But I eat my protein and veggies and carbs (and sweets!!) like everybody else’, examiner.com reported.
Perfecting her look: Alyssa prepares to represent the USA in the competition by perfecting her long red curls with the help of a professional hair stylist in Brazil
Meanwhile, Miss USA will be keeping Miss Canada company throughout the competition in Sao Paolo, as the two North American contestants will be sharing a room.
Alyssa said: ‘My roommate doesn’t get here until Tuesday but she is the beloved and beautiful Chelsae Durocher of Canada.’

And the models that are already in Brazil have been busy getting fitted for their bikinis and evening dresses ahead of the pageant, which kicks off on September 12.
Over the next three weeks, the models will be rehearsing their routines and taking part in numerous photo shoots to woo the judges and public.
And although Alyssa and Chelsae are both hoping they’ll be crowned Miss Universe next month, they have some very tough competition ahead.
Out of the 12 pageants held in the past decade, seven have been won by Latina contestants.

Hands on hips please! Miss Germany Valeria Bystritskaia (left) shows off her curves in green, while Miss Nicaragua Adriana Dom (right) poses in pink
Last year’s Miss Universe crown went to Ximena Navarrette of Mexico, while previous pageants since 2001 have been won by Miss Venezuela twice, Miss Puerto Rico twice, Miss Dominican Republic and Miss Panama.
But this year’s voting system will be slightly different, which may mean other countries have a better chance of beating the Latina beauties.
For the first time ever, the Miss Universe Organisation will offer a fan vote and an on-screen interactive technology to increase fan engagement worldwide.
Finishing touches: Miss Korea Sora Chong gets some help with her lip gloss, while Miss Montenegro Nikolina Loncar has her curls finished off by an expert
Behind the scenes: Miss Croatia Natalia Prica is fussed over by two hair stylists backstage
A pre-pageant fan vote built by CommerceTel was launched today, that will grant one of the 89 girls automatic entry into the semifinals – which will be announced during the live telecast.
On the night of the show, the iPowow ‘In The Now’ technology will enable home audiences to ‘gamify’ their viewing experience by voting in real-time for their favourite contestant during the live telecast.
Leading up to the competition, fans around the world can also vote online at www.missuniverse.com and may rank the contestants a total of 10 times per day.
The contestant with the highest average score will automatically advance to the semifinals.
